Comun Nuovo, 22 March 2024 – Stemin S.p.A. continues its ESG journey, adding another fundamental step to its sustainability roadmap.
Bureau Veritas Italia, a global leader in inspection, compliance verification, and certification services, has certified Stemin’s systematic approach to product life cycle analysis under a “cradle-to-gate” framework, in accordance with the standards established by ISO 14067:2018 and ISO 14064-1:2019.
The ISO 14064-1:2018 standard, adopted in Italy as UNI EN ISO 14064-1:2019, is a voluntary certification providing companies and organisations with a systematic and internationally recognised methodology to implement and manage inventories of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions at the organisational level. This enables the effective implementation of carbon management strategies to reduce emissions.
The ISO 14067:2018 standard, adopted in Italy as UNI EN ISO 14067:2019, defines principles, requirements, and guidelines for the quantification and reporting of a product’s Carbon Footprint (CFP). Based on international Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) standards ISO 14040 and ISO 14044, it allows for reporting the global warming impact generated by a product or service throughout its entire life cycle. In Stemin’s case, certification was obtained for the pilot alloy 46000.
“At a historic moment when environmental sustainability is the foremost global concern and a critical success factor, quantifying the environmental impact of our company and our specific production plays an increasingly important role. The information gathered is detailed and communicated clearly and transparently to customers, dealers, and end consumers, enabling informed decisions about product sustainability and the overall conduct of our company. Finally, identifying the highest emission areas will allow us to implement strategies to reduce operational costs and improve energy efficiency, with a view to continuous future improvement. “The entire Stemin S.p.A. team has worked diligently to achieve these two important certifications, enabling our company to stand out as a supplier capable of distinguishing itself in the market and building a reputation based on shared values with our stakeholders,” explained Olivo Foglieni, President of Stemin S.p.A.
The work of Stemin S.p.A. and the FECS Group, of which Stemin S.p.A. is a part, will continue unabated with a focus on corporate sustainability, energy and production efficiency, and social and governance responsibility — foundational values since its inception in 1999 and aligned with societal expectations and global sustainability goals.
